As a wax- artist Guno is specialized in batik and traditional candlemaking. Guno met Soeki Irodikromo in 1985 through a batik workshop and from that moment on, there was no greater passion for him. Soekie and Guno met each other many times since then, also at a number of art fairs and group expositions in that period.
In 1995 Guno left for Bonaire to set up a candle atelier in the picturesque village of Rincon. It concerned a day care center for people with intellectual disabilities and the most beautiful handmade candles were produced in a short time in the boy’s/men’s department. Until now, as a tourist you should definitely visit the FKPD activity center to buy a beautiful unique candle from the island.
In Guno’s batik paintings, the beautiful rugged nature of Bonaire is often reflected. Subjects that he depicts in candle form are driftwood, coral, sea urchins, etc.
On Bonaire and Aruba Guno participated in various art days, group expos and art routes and works as a teacher at Scholen Gemeenschap Bonaire.
