Jane Piqué has been living in Amsterdam since 1979. She was born in Suriname in a small village called Onverwacht and this is also where her journey into ceramics began.
Working with clay has always been a passion of Jane’s, which started in her childhood in a very playful way by making toys such as dolls, spoons, buckets, etc. The way she works now is based on free expression meaning she never knows in advance which sculpture, statue or mask I will create. When working on a piece, the clay itself leads the way into the sculpture she will create. These are different forms made by hand which will later become the foundation on which Jane continues to work.
She has been working professionally with clay for the last 20 years and is still learning.
