Iwan Verwey is one of Suriname’s finest sculptors and creates art from natural stone and wood. He is inspired by eroticism and his love for the female, especially by her fertility and round forms. “The Gate”, as Verwey calls the female, is the mystical creature within three-dimensional existence.
